I’m hearing from friends and neighbors that they are seeing infestations of black ants in various rooms of their homes right now. This is a seasonal problem that we encounter each year, around this time. Instead of buying poison traps, here is a simple and effective non-toxic solution and also safe around pets and kids.
Proportions of these ingredients are not critical, but start with about 1/2 teaspoon of Borax, mix with a 1/2 teaspoon of honey, and add just enough water (no special kind) until you get a syrupy consistency. Set this “bait” out in a shallow container or plate. Give it a day. It will draw ants like crazy, and you’ll see them crawling all around the edges, some may even drown in it. You’ll want to start squishing the ants, but resist! Let them drink it up and then they will carry it back to their nest. In about 24 hours, they’ll be gone.
We’ll post another article about Borax and it’s many uses, at a later date. Stay tuned!
